About Pub Watch
Pub Watch tracks the price of pub-food staples (steak, steak sandwich, chicken parmi and hot chips), pint prices, and a handful of drinks (house wine and the Aperol Spritz), at pubs and bars across Australia's capital metros.
How it works
Each month, Pub Watch checks pub prices across each state for the items we track. Everything gets a final pass for sanity before it lands here.
Prices marked Pub Watch sourced were gathered by Pub Watch and not yet manually verified. Prices marked verified have been checked by us. Prices marked user-submitted were sent in by Pub Watch users.
What we track
Pub menus vary, but the steak, parmi and chips trio shows up almost everywhere, which makes like-for-like comparisons easy. We've since added the steak sandwich, house wine (white and red) and the Aperol Spritz, alongside pint prices for a curated set of beers in each state. Drinks data is sparser than food, so patron submissions are especially welcome.
Pricing notes
- Steak: the cheapest standalone steak main. Cut and weight shown where available.
- Steak Sandwich: the cheapest steak sandwich or steak sanga, excluding daily specials.
- Chicken Parmi or Parma: the cheapest chicken parmigiana, excluding daily specials.
- Hot Chips: the cheapest standalone bowl or serve of chips.
- Beer (Pint): the regular pint price for each beer we track. We follow a fixed set per state plus a few national favourites.
- Wine (Glass): the house white and house red by the glass.
- Aperol Spritz: the standard Aperol Spritz where offered.
- Specials: listed separately by day. Don't confuse a Tuesday-night $25 steak special with an everyday price.
