About Pub Watch
Pub Watch tracks the price of pub-food staples — steak, chicken parmi, and hot chips — at pubs and bars across Australia. Perth is live now; Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane, Adelaide, Hobart, and Darwin are coming.
How it works
Each week, an automated process visits every pub website we know of in each metro, finds the food menu, and extracts the prices for the three items we track. The data gets a final pass for sanity, then lands here.
Prices marked Pub Watch sourced are pulled directly from venue websites and not yet manually verified. Prices marked verified have been checked by us. Prices marked user-submitted were sent in by Pub Watch users — thanks!
Why these three items?
Pub menus vary, but the steak / parmi / chips trio shows up almost everywhere. We start there to make like-for-like comparisons easy. Beer pricing is in our backlog — most pubs keep beer prices off their websites, so we'll need your help to fill that one in.
Pricing notes
- Steak — the cheapest standalone steak main. Cut and weight shown when the menu lists them.
- Chicken parmi — the cheapest chicken parmigiana on the regular menu.
- Hot chips — the cheapest standalone bowl/serve of chips.
- Specials — listed separately by day. Don't confuse a Tuesday-night $25 steak special with a regular menu price.
